How do I
figure how much
material I need... ?
It is best to specify feet when
measuring width and length and use inches for depth (height) to
calculate cubic yards.
Instructions: Multiply the
length x width X depth and divide by 27. Note: You will need to
convert the inches (depth into feet or vice versa).
1 INCH = .08333
2 INCH = .1667
3 INCH = .25
4 INCH = .3333
EXAMPLE: You measure your lawn for topsoil and the area is 72 ft by
27 ft and you want the soil 2 inches deep.
72 x 27 x = 1944
1944 x .1667 = 324.06
324.06 / 27 = 12 CY
You would need 12 CY.
